We’re one of 54 BIG chapters located in the Washington, D.C., area. The chapter is named after a free African-American almanac author, astronomer, inventor, presidential advisor, and surveyor.
In 1791, #BenjaminBanneker was assigned to the Pierre L’Enfant team to survey Washington, D.C. He is considered to be the first African-American man of science.
Banneker said, “Never abandon your vision. Keep reaching to further your dreams.”
